COVID-19 Update: Calson is scheduled to receive FDA-approved COVID-19
Starting this week, Calson is scheduled to receive FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines for residents and team members. All communities will have priority rotation to receive vaccines continuously for the foreseeable future. Each community will have specific vaccination dates with a follow-up schedule five weeks later.
Note: For anyone who places deposits for a Calson community, please contact us to determine your eligibility for the vaccine.
According to the CDC, all COVID-19 vaccines were tested in clinical trials involving tens of thousands of people to ensure they meet safety standards and protect adults of different races, ethnicities, and ages, including adults over the age of 65, who participated in the clinical trials. There were no serious safety concerns. The most common side effects were pain at the injection site and signs and symptoms like fever and chills. After reviewing all the available information, ACIP and CDC agreed the lifesaving benefits of COVID-19 vaccination for long-term care residents outweigh the risks of possible side effects. Two shots are needed to provide the best protection, and the vaccine shots are recommended to be given five weeks apart. Each recipient will receive a vaccination record card to ensure they receive the correct vaccine for the second dose.
In other news, after the vaccine kicks in and new residents are required to be vaccinated before moving in, indoor visitations will be back! In the meantime, residents are free to leave and visit their families and will not be required to be tested or quarantined upon return.
